LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Sons in Retirement, or SIRs, had two tournaments in May.
They played at Colusa on May 2. The format was medal play.
The winners in “A” flight were: first, place, Bill Craig with a score of 64; second place, Larry Alves with a score of 70; and tied for third place were Bob Chesnut and Fred Figg with a score of 71.
The winners for “B” flight were, first place, Jim Dvorak with a score of 68; second place, Jim Cary with a score of 69; third place, Mike Higman with a score of 71.
The winners for “C” flight were, first place, Bob Rumfelt with a score of 67; second place, Jim Spero with a score of 69; third place, Maarlin Walker with a score of 71.
Closest to the pins were Fred Figg, 17 feet, 1 inch, and Bob Chesnut, 45 feet on holes 2 and 11; Walt Neumann, 5 feet, 2 inches; and Fred Figg, 9 feet and 6 inches on holes 5 and 14.
The second tournament was played at the Hidden Valley Lake golf course and was a four-man, two-best ball format.
The winners were, first place, Tom Braun, Paul Peterson, Bob Rumfelt and Bob Brossier with a score of 115; second place, Bob Chesnut, Gary Faulkner, Mel O’Meara and Tom Hughes with a score of 118; third place, Bill Kyle, John Miles, Dave Silva and Bill Lyon with a score of 120; and fourth place, Terry Norwood, Mike Yamashita, Jeff Craig, and Jim Cary with a score of 123.
Closest to the pin were Bob Smart, 24 feet, 5 inches, and Jeff Craig, 26 feet, 3 inches, on hole No. 8, and Jim Dvorak, 2 feet, 8 inches, and Don Fehr, 8 feet, 7 inches on hole No. 11.
There also was a tournament on May 30 at the Wild Wing Golf Course, and four tournaments are planned for June.
