UCP announces Christmas Eve services

LAKEPORT – To better meet the needs of the community, United Christian Parish will offer two different style Christmas Eve services this year.

At 5 p.m. Christmas Eve the church will present, “Let It Shine!”

Christmas is the season of lights: candles on your tables, twinkling lights on your tree and house, a roaring fire. But while all these holiday lights are beautiful, they don’t compare to what they symbolize: the light of God's love.

This Christmas, join at UCP as we explore the true meaning of Christmas. It's brightened millions of lives for almost 2,000 years – and it can illuminate yours, too.

The 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. service is a bright and celebratory time the whole family will love. You will love the Christmas story we have chosen for the kids this year, but we're not giving any hints! This boisterous celebration will conclude in a joyful carol as we light our candles and world!

At 7 p.m. Christmas Eve the church will present the “Light One Candle” service.

Sometimes the “season of Christmas” can overwhelm the “meaning of Christmas.” The 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. service is a more meditative, quiet and devotional experience. No lights would have graced the stable where Christ was born – but His was the light the world was waiting for.

The 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. service will focus on the manger and includes communion. This Christmas Eve Service will conclude in approaching silence as we light our individual candles one by one in the Silent Night.

Which service will you attend?

There's the joyful and boisterous service from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the devotional and meditative services from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Whatever works best for you and your family, you are welcome!

United Christian Parish is located at 745 N. Brush St., Lakeport, telephone 707-263-4788.
