KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The service at the Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County for Sunday, Sept. 26, will be presented by Carrie Knowles-Hance.

The service begins at 10 a.m. at the Kelseyville Senior Center, 5245 Third St., in Kelseyville.

The sermon, entitled “The First Wives Club,” takes up the issue of gender in the Bible by “imagining the voices of women whose identities never made it into the final edition,” according to Knowles-Hance.

Knowles-Hance helped found the Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County almost a decade ago.

This association was crucial to Knowles-Hance following her call to ministry. After a career as a psychologist and attorney, she is now in her last year as a student at Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley.

A children’s religious education program is offered during the service. Children are learning about the seven principles that form the basis for this denomination. Guests are welcome.
