Lake Ministerial Association to host second annual essay contest

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake Ministerial Association (LMA) is pleased to announce the second annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Essay Contest for junior and senior high school students of Lakeport and Kelseyville.

Unlike other scholarships, the winner of this contest may use the money for college or a mission trip.

Essays must be three pages long (type-written or computer processed) and address this year’s theme “God’s Keyboard.”

Themes of anti-racism, Christian unity and/or mission are all appropriate for the essay.

Essays must be received by 10 a.m. Jan. 31. Late entries will not be considered.

Entries can be submitted personally to Lakeport Christian Center on Forbes, United Christian Parish (UCP) on the corner of Eighth and Brush in Lakeport, New Life Foursquare Church on Martin Street in Lakeport, Galilee Lutheran Church on Soda Bay Road in Kelseyville, or Kelseyville Presbyterian Church on Third Street in Kelseyville or mailed to UCP at 745 N Brush St., Lakeport, CA 95453.

Please mark the envelope “God’s Keyboard.”

There will be one prize awarded for $500 to the student who best articulates the theme. The winner must read their essay at the LMA Christian Unity celebration Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.

For more information you may talk to the pastor of any church mentioned above. You do not need to be a member of a church to participate.
