New Year

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – The community is invited to join the Middletown Methodist Community Life Team for its presentation of the second annual New Year’s Eve Dinner Party on Dec. 31.

Party favors, hats, music and games, beef Stroganoff, dessert and nonalcoholic beverages will be featured.

Dinner begins at 7 p.m. with a suggested donation of $5 per person.

Following the dinner party you are invited to ring in the new year at one of two New Year’s Eve Services at the Middletown Methodist Church.

“We will host an early New Year’s Eve Service in the sanctuary 8:45 p.m. for those who like to turn in early,” said Pastor Voris Brumfield. “Following the early service we will continue with games and music until 11:30 p.m. to ring in the New Year at midnight.”

On Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, church members will host their second annual Karambu (a feast) between the 9:45 a.m. and noon services in honor of Kwanzaa, the seven-day Pan African Cultural Celebration created in 1968 that honors community, faith, family and cooperative work and economics.

The regular noon “Spirit Alive” service will feature the ceremony honoring elders and children as Kwanzaa concludes.

The Middletown Methodist Church is located at the corner of Armstrong and Washington Streets one block east of Highway 29 in Middletown.

You do not have to be a member of our church to participate in our activities because United Methodist practice open hearts, open minds and open doors following the teachings of Jesus Christ.
