Cookies and carols planned for 'Christmas in the Country'

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Kelseyville Methodist Church and the Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County will open the doors of the Kelseyville Methodist Church during the Christmas in the Country event.

On Friday, Dec. 2, people are invited to stop by the Methodist Church to enjoy holiday cookies and a cup of hot chocolate or coffee.

The event will take place starting at 5:30 p.m.

Two musicians will be leading the singing of old and familiar Christmas songs. Songsheets will be provided, and all are welcome to join in the singing.

During this time of holiday giving, guests are also asked to bring nonperishable food for the food cupboard which is located in the Methodist Church.

All food collected is given back to people in the community who are experiencing difficulty feeding their families.

The Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County recently joined with the Methodists to share space in the historic United Methodist Church at the corner of First and Main Streets in Kelseyville.

Each congregation holds a worship service on Sunday mornings – the Methodists at 9 a.m. and the Unitarians at 11 a.m.

The two congregations will work together on community projects, including the food bank and the Christmas in the Country open house.
