Unitarian Universalist Community plans December holiday services

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. — The Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County, or UUCLC, holds services on Sundays at 11 a.m. at the church, located at 3810 Main St. in Kelseyville.

Guests are always welcome.

UUCLC will present four services in December to celebrate the holiday season.

Drawing from a variety of sources and traditions, these services are designed to provide inspiration and hope during the holidays.

The service on Dec. 1 will be presented by Rev. Esther Wallace. Her service is entitled “A Season for Kindling,” and will draw inspiration from many rituals and holidays, from Advent to Hanukkah to Solstice, that recognize the power of light and darkness and the sacredness of awaiting miracles.

The service on Dec. 8 will be presented by Rev. Ben Meyers. Entitled, “What Are You Waiting For...and Where?” the service will include a special sermon for the Advent Season. Meyers will explore why we are waiting, and whether one is waiting in the right place. Special Advent music will be included.

Dec. 15 will be a service led by members of the UUCLC. This service will include “A Season of Celebrations,” incorporating the birth of new hope, festival of lights, and the gift of joy.

The winter solstice is a time to celebrate the return of light and it is a time to embrace the dark. The Dec. 22 service will be a celebration of the Winter Solstice, led by member Gail Marquette.

There will be no service on Sunday, Dec. 29.
