Resilient Lake County Comprehensive Prevention Plan launch planned by May 23

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Resilient Lake County is pleased to invite the Community to Comprehensive Prevention Plan, or CPP, Launch on Thursday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Robinson Rancheria.

Resilient Lake County is a subcommittee of the Lake County Children’s Council with a current mission of implementing the CPP to lessen Child Abuse in our community.

This process is part of the Federal Family First Prevention Services Act, or FFPSA, which allows counties to use funding to develop child abuse prevention strategies particular to their community.

Resilient Lake County has spent the past two years creating this plan with the input of stakeholders, families, county agencies and community partners.

In December, the plan was approved by the state of California. It is now time to start improving our community with the strategies identified, and it is the goal to have as many individuals, families and community partners as possible to have a voice and support the process.

At the launch, you will briefly learn about the Lake County CPP, give input on the services and resources available in Lake County, and discuss the next steps. Lunch will be provided.

To register go to CPPLaunch.eventbrite.com by May 16.

EDD reminds Californians to beware of scammers

The Employment Development Department, or EDD, continues to urge Californians to guard against fraud.

The latest round of text-message schemes called “smishing” tries to trick people into clicking a link in a text to supposedly reactivate their account.

The message proclaims such an action is necessary as part of EDD’s transition from Bank of America to Money Network and this is not true.

Below is an example of the scam text message.

EDD will never request personal information by text message, email or on social media.

Text messages asking to activate a benefits debit card by selecting a link are scams in attempts to get people to give up their personal identifying information. Real text messages from EDD only link to websites that include “edd.ca.gov.”

The department encourages customers to remain vigilant and safeguard their financial and personal information.

Visit Help Fight Fraud for tips on how to avoid scams.
