NORTH COAST, Calif. — The Mendocino National Forest is recruiting for its 2024 wildland fire on call program.
The Mendocino National Forest sponsors and dispatches nine on-call/organized crew wildland fire type-II hand crews.
The program has been in existence for decades and has a positive and solid reputation. On-call crews assist wildland fire suppression efforts both locally and nationally.
The typical season lasts from May through November.
This training opportunity will provide the basic fire courses. Once you complete the whole program (about 10 days), you will be certified as a Firefighter Type II. No previous experience is necessary.
Register online and attend one of their in-person hiring days. Deadline to register is Feb. 1, 2024.
Hiring days will take place as follows:
• Willows: Jan. 9 to 10, 825 N Humboldt St., Willows, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Upper Lake: Jan. 16 to 17, 10025 Elk Mountain Road, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Chico: Jan. 23 to 24, 3965 Morrow Lane, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Willows: Jan 25, at 311 S Villa. St., 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The current bylaws require two members of the general public and one attorney to be appointed to this advisory board.
The purpose of this committee is to receive and review reports on the county’s public defender program and discuss the performance and ability to meet the needs of the county, the courts and those who utilize these services.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The Lake County Registrar of Voters Office said it will hold a county random alphabet drawing for next year's State Assembly District 4 election.
The drawing will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the elections office, 325 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.
The process is pursuant to Elections Code Section 13111(i), following the procedures set forth in Elections Code Section 13112.
The results of the drawing will be used to arrange the names of candidates on the county of Lake’s March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election official ballots for the legislative office of State Assembly member District 4.
