The evening will begin with a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by the Installation of 2009 officers, initiation of new members from 2008 and presentation of membership pins.

Auction items include an airplane ride for three (thanks to Tom Lincoln of Lincoln-Leavitt Insurance), wine and wine tastings, original art and jewelry, live music by David Neft, overnight accommodations and shows at Lake Tahoe and locally, a time-share in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, ski lift passes, Disneyland tickets, canoe rides and much more.
So, come eat, have fun and do good. All proceeds go to local and international humanitarian projects.
Tickets are $50 per person, which includes two drink tickets and a door prize chance.
For groups of 10 or more, there’s a 10-percent discount to $45 per person. Tickets must be pre-paid by Jan. 16 for group reserved seating. Give the names of the people in your group and a group name, so you can be seated together.
This is a sell-out event every year, so don’t be disappointed by waiting until the last minute. Get your checks and reservations in now. Make checks payable to RC of Middletown and mail to P.O. Box 981, Middletown, CA 95461. Pre-paid tickets can be mailed or held at the door.
Fresh floral centerpieces by Karen Jones’ Floral Design Class at Middletown High School are available for sponsorships. Half the proceeds go to the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter.
Dinner is fresh green salad, pasta with Chef Duane’s homemade sauce, crispy French bread with dipping oil, lots of crab (of course), dessert and coffee
This year there is reduced seating in order to give participants more elbow room, plus group discounts and reserved seating.

UPPER LAKE – The Northshore Dive Team will hold its monthly training this coming weekend.
The team will meet at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at Library Park in Lakeport.
Everyone is welcome to attend – both divers and non-divers. If you like the water you are invited to join the team.

The Senior Peer Counseling program of Konocti Senior Services Inc. is accepting applications for the Winter Volunteer Training for this enriching opportunity to help seniors talk through a discouraging time, access services, cope with losses and adapt to the challenges of older age.
Volunteers will share their experiences with other inspirational volunteers, engage in lively discussions, and receive weekly training in the gifts and challenges of aging. They will learn skills such as compassionate listening, strategic coping, and clear communicating.
You will learn the secrets of increasing peace of mind, reducing stress, recovering from a loss, building healthy relationships and exploring the spiritual advantages of later life.
As a volunteer, you will spend a total of about four hours a week with clients and attending a group supervision session in Lakeport or Clearlake.
The program is now accepting a limited number of applications for volunteers throughout Lake County for this free training facilitated by licensed psychotherapist Kim Baughan Young MFT, clinical consultant.
The training includes experiential practice, movie clips, lively group discussion and even free lunches. Sessions will be held on three successive Mondays beginning Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
