The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.
The agenda and associated staff reports can be downloaded at www.cityoflakeport.com/departments/docs.aspx?deptID=88&catID=124 .
Community Development/Utilities Director Mark Brannigan will give the council a status report on the Lakeport Transfer Station, which his written report to the council states is being decommissioned.
Brannigan's report explains that Caroline Chavez, deputy director for the Lake County Public Services Department, issued a letter to Lakeport interim City Manager Kevin Burke last November giving notification that the Lakeport Transfer Station would be closing to the public on Nov. 28, 2009, and that decommissioning of the operations was anticipated to take up to 120 days.
Brannigan said he met with Chavez on March 9 and she indicated that the county was considering an alternative use for the site and possibly extending the lease.
He noted in his report that the “opportunity exists to plan for the best and highest use of the property.”
The council also will see the oath of office administered to new member of the Lakeport Police Department, Officer Amanda Coffman.
Other items on the agenda include a presentation by Bill Irwin regarding potential low income housing proposal; an update on the Vista Point property and its safety issues; and a request to authorize exemption to the citywide hiring freeze for any vacant or needed positions in the Community Development/Utilities Department that can be filled and funded through the Subsidized Employment Program offered by the Lake County Department of Social Services.
Public Works Director Doug Grider also is scheduled to give the council an update on Measure I projects.
During public presentations the council will consider approving events for the Lake County Chamber of Commerce and the Lake County Child Care Planning Council, as well as a proposed Lakeport Skate Park competition on Park Street Oct. 24.
The council will hold a closed session regarding the new city manager and a case of pending litigation, City of Lakeport v. Vincent.
