Lakeport Police Department plans upcoming traffic operations

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Police Department is planning to begin special traffic enforcement operations in various areas throughout the city of Lakeport.

Lt. Brad Rasmussen said the operations will begin on a selected day during the week of Sept. 13.

He said officers will primarily target drivers who are operating their vehicles at speeds unsafe for

conditions and who are failing to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.

They'll also look for any other violations that cause unsafe or dangerous driving conditions for the public, he said.

Rasmussen said the agency is carrying out the special enforcement operations in response to citizen concerns regarding traffic safety.

He said the operations also are part of the department’s continued efforts to reduce accidents and increase driver and pedestrian safety and awareness.

Future, similar operations are planned, he said.
