LAKEPORT, Calif. – The sheriff will seek the go ahead from the Lake County Board of Supervisors to terminate the lease for the sheriff's office's existing Middletown substation when the board meets this week.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the board chambers at the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport. TV8 will broadcast the meeting live.
In an untimed item, Sheriff Frank Rivero will ask the board to terminate his department's lease for the Middletown substation with Jim and Hettie Hendrickson effective Feb. 28.
The lease for the substation, located at 21130 A Calistoga St., is on a month-to-month basis and may be terminated by either party with 30 days' written notice, according to county documents. The sheriff's office pays $775 a month for the space.
A memo Rivero has prepared to send the Hendricksons, dated Feb. 1, states, “The Sheriff's Department thanks you for your support over the years but is looking for a larger facility that will be more suitable to the needs of a Sub-station.”
In other board business, at 9:25 a.m. the County Administrative Office will take to the board a discussion and consideration of a proposal to lease a new facility in Lucerne for the Mental Health Department.
The agency last year asked the Board of Supervisors to consider allowing it to build a facility in Lucerne, as Lake County News has reported.
