Sheriff's office reports on latest task force drug arrests, drug and currency seizures

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Sheriff's Office reported Sunday that during the past week the Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force made several more drug-related arrests, seized 9 grams of suspected methamphetamine and more than 30 pounds of marijuana, and confiscated $700 in currency which is believed to be the suspected profits of drug trafficking.

The Sunday report from Capt. James Bauman explained that on Tuesday, Feb. 15, Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force members conducted a probation search at the home of 50-year-old Darrell Lyn Collins on Foothill Drive in Lucerne.

Collins was already on formal felony probation for previous narcotics related convictions, Bauman said.

During a search of the premises, Bauman said detectives found narcotics paraphernalia and a stun gun belonging to Collins.

Collins was arrested without incident and booked in the Lake County Jail on misdemeanor charges of being a felon in possession of a stun gun, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and felony violation of probation. Jail records indicated he later posted bail and was released.

On Friday, Feb. 18, task force members served a search warrant at another home in Lucerne, Bauman said. As detectives entered the home, they interrupted an apparent sales transaction in progress in the living room with a radio scanner monitoring the sheriff’s primary radio frequency nearby.

Bauman said several people were detained. Bauman said two separate bottles containing suspected methamphetamine were found in the living room, along with approximately 10 pounds of processed marijuana packaged for sales.

He said another 20 pound of marijuana was located in a bedroom and appeared to be in various stages of being weighed and packaged for sales.

One man was arrested and booked on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of marijuana for sales and misdemeanor possession of narcotics paraphernalia, said Bauman. Another man was arrested and booked for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

He said the names of both men are being withheld pending further investigation.

The Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force is continuing its efforts to eradicate narcotics from the communities of Lake County and seize suspected profits from narcotics sales for asset forfeiture proceedings whenever possible.
