Sheriff's office investigates casino bomb threat

NICE, Calif. – Sheriff's officials are investigating the source of a Wednesday bomb threat phoned in to a local casino.

Capt. James Bauman of the Lake County Sheriff's Office said the threat was made to Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino at about noon Wednesday.

A front desk employee reported receiving the call, which she said was made in a “disguised” voice, according to Bauman.

The caller told the woman there was a bomb about to blow up in one of the back offices, and then hung up, Bauman said.

Bauman said five sheriff's units responded and spent 45 minutes working with tribal police to search for a bomb. “We found nothing.”

Bauman added, “We are working with AT&T to try to trace the source of the call.”
