CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Friday Night Farmers' Market at Redbud Park in Clearlake opens at 5 p.m. Friday, June 7, with musical guests From The Heart, featuring Celtic harpist Saro Deacon and multi-instrumentalist Reikor Deacon.
The market, which runs June through September each year, features local and regional farmers showcasing seasonal produce, local prepared food vendors, including Cactus Grill, and a selection of local artisans.
In its fifth year, the Friday Night Farmers' Market, sponsored by Lake Co-op and the City of Clearlake, takes place on the shores of Clear Lake at the Mike Thompson Harbor at Redbud Park.
Market Manager Pharalee Travis and local musician Don Coffin work together to provide appetizing food and entertainment throughout the season.
New this year is regional Spring Hill Farm's organic jersey cow cheese with multiple varieties, which are also available through the Lake Co-op's online ordering system.
“We have a strong local showing this year plus our dedicated producers from the region are returning,” said Travis.
She further noted that local farmer Ashley Hathaway of Guiding Light Urban Farming Project and Ken Fountain of Jaguar Gardens Nursery will have plenty of garden starts.
EBT, WIC coupons and senior coupons will be accepted at the market soon.
"There will be a youth day on June 14 and market attendees can look forward to an Art Flash Mob event, which was a resounding success last year,” Travis said.
The weekly live music and family-friendly atmosphere creates a vibrant and healthy experience for the whole family.
