KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Lake County Farm Bureau held its 90th meeting of the members at Cole Creek Equestrian Center on Thursday, July 18.
This year Farm Bureau combined its Love of the Land Dinner and fundraising efforts with the required membership meeting in to one event.
Celebration 2013 gathered members, friends and families together for a wonderful evening of food, fun, special acknowledgments and awards.
A wine social sponsored by the Lake County Winery Association kicked off the evening as guests enjoyed award winning wines poured by local wineries.
Kelseyville FFA served a delicious tri-tip and chicken dinner. Also in attendance was the Kelseyville Boy Scout Troop No. 45 which provided assistance at the event as well as ceremoniously presenting and retiring the flag.
Farm Bureau Board President Marc Hooper called the meeting to order to make brief announcements and then promptly adjourned the meeting.
Hooper introduced the 2013 Farm Bureau scholarship recipients Bonnie McCallister of Kelseyville and Lindee Jones from Middletown.
Dave Rosenthal, Farm Bureau first vice president, presented the 2013 Employee Appreciation Award to Kristen Krohn for her years of work at Lake County Farm Bureau.
Diane Henderson, director, presented recipients from Kelseyville FFA with jackets awarded through the Blue Jacket Bonanza Program.
Hooper presented the prestigious Ag Appreciation Award to Michelle Malm and Colleen Rentsch for their roles in initiating and implementing a nationally recognized farm to school program.
Hooper also presented Craig Shannon with a jacket in a show of appreciation for his past presidency and years of dedication to Farm Bureau.
In addition, Jeff Tyrell from state Sen. Noreen Evans’ office and Chris Roger from Assemblymember Mariko Yamada’s office of the Fourth Assembly District presented a resolution acknowledging Lake County Farm Bureau’s 90th anniversary and commending the many achievements and positive impacts it has made in the local community.
The second annual dessert auction provided entertainment as well as generated funds for Farm Bureau’s scholarship and farm-focused programs.
Farm Bureau members Greg and Allison Panella auctioned more than 20 desserts with assistance from scholarship recipients Lindee Jones, Bonnie McCallister, Jocelyn Bennett, 2012 Lake County Rodeo Queen and Makenna Kidd, 2012 Lake County Rodeo Princess.
LCFB strives to protect and promote farming and agricultural interests throughout Lake County and to find solutions to challenges on the farm, at the ranch home and throughout the rural community.
LCFB is Lake County’s largest farm organization, representing over 550 farm families and individual members.
