KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Construction is officially under way on the new skate park in Kelseyville.
The new concrete skate facility – the first of its kind in the unincorporated area of the county – will be located next to the BMX track at the three-acre Kelseyville Community Park, located at 5270 State St.
The Lake County Public Services Department, which is managing the project, said the rest of the park will remain open during construction, although some areas may be inaccessible during the building work.
In April the Board of Supervisors awarded a construction contract to California Landscape and Design, as Lake County News has reported. The cost to build the park is just over $265,000.
Separately, the county had approved a $45,000 contract with California Skateparks in March 2014.
Public Services said the features of the 9,000-square-foot facility will include a quarter pipe return, four stair and skate rail combos, hipped bank, sushi dish ledge, bank to pole jam, taco transition, flat slate rail, radial transition, six stair slate rail and hubba combo.
Brian Powers, the facilities project supervisor, said work should pick up steam later this week, when the contractor brings in additional equipment and personnel.
Public Services said the work is anticipated to be complete by July 22.
Anyone with specific questions about the project can contact Powers at 707-262-1618.
