City of Clearlake: Notice of dates for submitting arguments on city ballot measures

NOTICE OF DATE FIXED FOR SUBMITTING ARGUMENTS ON CITY OF CLEARLAKE’S MEASURES V, W, AND X

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Clearlake has consolidated its Municipal general election with the Statewide general election to be held on November 8, 2016, and there will be submitted to the voters of said City the following measures:

Ballot Measure V:

“TRANSACTIONS AND USE (SALES) TAX FOR ROAD MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT
Shall City of Clearlake impose a retail transactions and use tax of one percent (1%) to be used for road maintenance and improvement; shall the appropriations limit for the City of Clearlake for road maintenance and improvement increase Fiscal Year 2016-2017 by tax proceeds received, shall a Citizen’s Oversight Committee annually review the use of proceeds, and shall it expire in twenty years?”

Ballot Measure W:

    “SHALL THE OFFICE OF CITY CLERK BE APPOINTIVE?”

Ballot Measure X:

    “SHALL THE OFFICE OF CITY TREASURER BE APPOINTIVE?”

    Arguments for and against City Measures V, W, and X must be typed and submitted to the City Clerk, City of Clearlake, 14050 Olympic Drive, Clearlake, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016. Arguments may be submitted by the legislative body, or any member or members of the legislative body authorized by that body; or any individual voter who is eligible to vote on the measure; or bona fide association of citizens; or any combination or these voters and associations. No argument shall exceed 300 words in length. No more than five signatures shall appear with any argument. All arguments must be accompanied by the statement required in Section 9600 of the California Elections Code stating the printed name of the author or authors submitting it or, if submitted on behalf of an organization, the name of the organization and the printed name and signature of at least one of its principal officers. Only one argument for and one argument against shall be selected for printing and distribution with the sample ballots.
