Pear Festival to host first-ever pie eating contest

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Martha Rose, frequent winner of previous years’ Kelseyville Pear Festival dessert contest and coordinator of this years’ dessert contest, is also coordinating a pear pie eating contest during this year’s Pear Festival.

The pie eating contest will take place at 11:45 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Sept. 24, just outside the Pear Pavilion on Main Street.

This year’s event will be sponsored by the Rose Family Preschool Program in Lakeport.

The inaugural event will feature 12 local dignitaries, business and service organization members as the contestants.

Each contestant will select a local charity of their choice with the winner donating their $100 prize money to that charity.

Rose hopes that the pear pie eating contest becomes an annual event bringing another fun activity for the festival goers to enjoy.
