KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Downtown Kelseyville will be filled with sights and sounds celebrating his agricultural history during the 24th annual Kelseyville Pear Festival this weekend.
Highlights of the event include horses, tractors, a parade, dancing and music, cooking demonstrations, vendors and more.
The festivities begin on Friday afternoon, when bakers submit their best dessert creations for the annual dessert contest at Kelseyville Presbyterian Church.
On Friday night, Dave Stamey, nationally acclaimed cowboy singer, returns by popular demand to entertain at the Kelseyville Pear Festival Kickoff concert and dinner.
Stamey has been the event's headliner for the last several years. He's a cowboy, a mule packer, a dude wrangler, and is now one of the most popular Western entertainers working today. He will be inducted into the Western Music Hall of Fame at the Western Music Association Award Show in Albuquerque, New Mexico in November.
The Friday evening kickoff event also will feature the auctioning off of this year's festival poster, “Catch the small town magic” by local artist Carolyn Morris. Proceeds will benefit Kelseyville schools. Posters of the painting will be available at the Kelseyville Marketplace booth, located in front of the Pear Pavilion, on Saturday.
Then on Saturday, start the day at the Kelseyville Volunteer Fireman’s Association's pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at the firehouse, 4020 Main St. Included in a $7 ticket are pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee and orange juice.
After breakfast, get out to Main Street, where the parade will begin at 9:30 a.m.
The Horse Faire will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include breed demos and discussions about packing, vet care and endurance riding.
Various stages set up around town will feature jazz, rock, folk, pop and Celtic harp music throughout the day.
