A recent letter writer correctly pointed out that the revenue generated from the city of Lakeport’s Measure Z will go directly into the general fund.
Measure Z does provide a safeguard to insure this one-percent sales tax will be spent on police, roads and parks as is the intent of the measure.
Measure Z establishes a five-member independent citizens’ advisory committee. This committee will meet quarterly to receive information on the amount of revenue generated, make recommendation to the Lakeport City Council on how that revenue should be spent and to review all expenditures of that revenue.
