LAKEPORT, Calif. – M. Patricia Courtney, age 88, died peacefully in the Lakeport home of her son Neil Hotchkiss and daughter-in-law, Liz Hotchkiss, on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017.

She was born April 5, 1928, in Eagleville, Calif., to Sydney H. Foster and Florence (McNeil) Foster, and was the youngest of four children.

Pat was a floral designer by trade, and owned “Floral Arts by Pat” in Ukiah during the 1980s. She was an avid water colorist, and took great pride in studying under her mentor Ken Potter. Her hobbies included porcelain painting, writing, illustrating and various craft projects.

Pat leaves her son and daughter-in-law; grandsons Adam Hotchkiss and Alex Szeliga; granddaughter, Nicole Bird; great-grandchildren, Camyrn and Mason Bird. She is survived by her sisters: Virginia Flint, San Andreas, Calif.; and local artist Adele Pruitt, Ukiah; a niece, Patricia Smith; and two nephews, Dan Foster and Mikal Pruitt.

She is predeceased by her brother Danny Foster, of whom she was so very proud, he being a World War II pilot and inductee into the 1994 Motor Sports Hall of Fame for having won the hydroplane races Gold Cup and Presidents Cup three times.

Pat was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist church, and wished to share her belief that in death she unconsciously sleeps while awaiting the resurrection, at the return of her Lord Jesus Christ.

She will be interned in the Foster Family Plot at the Oddfellows Cemetery in Fresno. There will be no memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be donated to Hospice Services of Lake County.
