LUCERNE, Calif. – The newest in a series of recently created municipal advisory committees will hold its first meeting this week to discuss another proposed Dollar General store.
The Middle Region Town Hall, or MRTH, will meet at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the Northshore Community Center, located at 10th and Country Club in Lucerne.
The Board of Supervisors voted on Jan. 10 to approve the formation of MRTH, which Supervisor Jim Steele created to advise him on issues in District 3.
The board followed on Feb. 7 by approving Steele’s appointment to MRTH of Daniel DeBonis, Dr. Robert Gardner, Virginia Graziani, Beth Shaver and Paul Smith.
Steele said the group will consider at its Friday meeting a proposal to place a Dollar General store in Lucerne.
County planning staff reported that the Dollar General site is proposed for a parcel at 5905 E. State Highway 20, which is next to Morrison Creek and on the shore of Clear Lake.
There currently are Dollar General stores in Clearlake Oaks and Nice, with another approved for Middletown and one to be considered in the Clear Lake Riviera area of Kelseyville.
MRTH was the fourth municipal advisory council to be created in Lake County, following the Middletown Area Town Hall, formed in December 2006; the East Region Town Hall, or EaRTH, created in May to advise Steele on issues in the Clearlake Oaks area; and the Cobb Area Council, created in July, as Lake County News has reported.
Steele said he also wants to create a third municipal advisory council called West Region Town Hall, or WRTH, for the areas of Upper Lake, Nice and Blue Lakes.
