CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The annual Clearlake Clean Up Day is just around the corner, with city officials inviting interested community members to come out and take part.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22.
Volunteers can check in at Austin Park, where they will receive bags and tools. Forming teams of “trash pickers” to work together also is encouraged.
It’s also an opportunity to clean business fronts and to dispose of electronic waste.
Clearlake Public Works Director Doug Herren said the cleanup – taking place now for more than a decade – is “a little face lift for the spring tourist season.”
Last year’s cleanup had an estimated 180 participants, who collected 220 yards of waste weighing in at 31 tons, along with 160 tires and five yards of e-waste, city officials reported.
