CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Clearlake City Council will hold a budget workshop ahead of its regular meeting this week.
The council will convene the budget meeting at 4:30 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 25, in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.

During the workshop, the council will review the preliminary draft of the fiscal year 2018 operating and capital budgets, and get an update on the progress of the strategic plan.
Once convened for the regular meeting, the council will begin by offering a proclamation declaring May as US Military Recognition Month and will get a presentation from the Tobacco Education Youth Coalition.
The council will hold several separate public hearings on abatement orders for the following properties: 15628 37th Ave., 16288 21st Ave., 16298 21st Ave., 16036 14th Ave., 16389 21st Ave. and 16046 14th Ave. It also will consider confirming a $5,000 assessment at 3925 Eureka Ave.
Under council business, council members will review and approve the city’s Code Enforcement Division Policy and Procedures Manual and consider approving a photo contest for the city Web site and city-owned buildings.
On the meeting's consent agenda – items considered noncontroversial and usually accepted as a slate on one vote – are warrant registers; minutes of the council meetings on April 27, May 3 and May 11; consideration of an in-kind occupancy agreement with the public access television station; and a contract for planning services with Price Consultant Services.
The council also is set to hold closed session discussions on labor negotiations and a property purchase at 14060 Olympic Drive, next door to city hall.
