CLEARLAKE – Clearlake Police released new details on Wednesday regarding the investigation into a shooting that took place earlier in the week, including the status of the victim and an additional arrest.

Timothy McCarty, 38, of Clearlake was the victim of the Monday night shooting, according to a report from Clearlake Police Lt. Mike Hermann.

McCarty is being treated at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and is in stable but serious condition, according to Hermann.

He was shot multiple times with a 9 millimeter handgun, and was wounded once in the chest and once in the back, Hermann said. Police haven't yet been able to interview McCarty at the hospital about the incident.

Police arrested 32-year-old Noah Michael Parker for allegedly shooting McCarty, Hermann said.

The shooting, said Hermann, occurred at 9:50 p.m. Monday in front of the 40th Avenue residence Parker shares with girlfriend, Selena Sargent, 33.

Hermann said police don't have a motive for the shooting, other than the two men had argued before the shooting occurred.

Clearlake Police Officer Mike Hansen found McCarty shortly after the shooting when he spotted another person trying to transport McCarty from the scene, according to Hermann's report.

Parker and Sargent allegedly fled the scene following the shooting, Hermann reported. He was found at 4 a.m. Tuesday inside a friend's home on 28th Avenue, where he was taken into custody.

Hermann said police served a search warrant at Parker's residence, where they found numerous shell casings, marijuana plants and approximately 1.5 pounds of processed marijuana, multiple scales, weights, packaging materials, pay-owe sheets, drug paraphernalia and other items indicative of illegal drug sales.

When police arrested Parker they allegedly found he and Sargent in possession of $5,000 in small bills, according to Hermann.

The gun Parker allegedly used to shoot McCarty – a 9 millimeter Smith and Wesson – was found, Hermann said, at another location, but police would not disclose the exact location.

Parker, who Hermann said is a convicted felony, is facing charges of attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and cultivation and sales of marijuana. Pending review by the District Attorney's Office, Parker may face additional charges.

A Lake County Jail booking official reported that Parker is being held on $50,000 bail.

Sargent also was arrested for cultivation and sales of marijuana after the service of the search warrant, said Hermann.

The case is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Tom Clements at 994-8251.

CLEARLAKE – Clearlake Police have arrested a man for his alleged connection to a shooting incident that took place Monday night.

Noah Parker, 32, was taken into custody following an investigation into an incident that left a 38-year-old man shot several times, according to a Tuesday morning report from Clearlake Police Lt. Mike Hermann.

Parker is being held on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to Hermann's report.

Officer Mike Hansen was on patrol in the area of 40th Avenue and Moss Monday at approximately 9:52 p.m. when he spotted a vehicle pull out of a private driveway, Hermann reported.

Hansen continued watching as the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection's stop sign, where Hermann said the driver got out of the vehicle and ran to the front passenger side. Hansen then saw the driver trying to lift a person’s leg back into the vehicle while trying to lift something (or someone) in the front seat.

At the same time, Clearlake Dispatch put out the report of shots fired from the same area moments prior to Officer Hansen’s arrival, Hermann reported.

Hansen began driving towards the vehicle as the driver got back into the driver’s seat and sped off, according to Hermann. The vehicle ran the red light at the intersection of Highway 53 and Lakeshore Drive while turning south onto the highway. Hansen caught up to the vehicle which pulled to the side of the road.

It was during the stop that Hansen found the gunshot victim slumped down on the front passenger floorboard of the vehicle, Hermann explained. The victim had been shot multiple times in the upper body and had to be flown to Santa Rosa due to the nature of his injuries.

The police investigation included service of a search warrant at Parker's 40th Avenue residents, where Hermann said police found evidence of Parker's alleged involvement, including several spent shell casings.

Parker was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail, where Hermann said he remains in custody.

Hermann said the case is still under investigation and anyone with additional information should contact Detective Sergeant Tom Clements at 994-8251.

CLEARLAKE – Authorities were in search of a suspect late Monday night in connection with a shooting that left one person injured.

Radio reports at 9:45 p.m. indicated gunshots were fired in the vicinity of 39th Avenue in Clearlake.

An officer arriving on the scene reportedly found one victim with a single gunshot wound to the chest in the highway, reports indicated.

While the officer removed the victim from the road, in another area one person was reported taken into custody, with Lake County Sheriff's deputies en route.

While the shooting victim was airlifted for medical care, a be-on-the-lookout call was issued for a 25 year old male adult, believed to be in possession of two 9 millimeter, semiautomatic handguns.

The man – described as an Indian male with a heavy, tall build – was reportedly driving a gray Chrysler 300 with tinted windows, low-profile tires and chrome rims.

Clearlake Police indicated a report would be released on the situation sometime Tuesday.

LAKEPORT – The October 2002 murder of Barbara LaForge remains unsolved, but Lakeport Police reports that the agency continues to work on the case.

“We're still aggressively investigating the case,” said Lt. Brad Rasmussen.

LaForge, 43, was gunned down in her downtown frame shop in October of 2002.

Her friend and fellow artist, Gail Salituri, is launching the new LaForge Memorial Fund, which will raise funds for the Lake Family Resource Center's domestic violence shelter fundraising campaign, as Lake County News reported Friday.

Last October, at the time of the murder's fifth anniversary, Lakeport Police Department and the Lake County District Attorney’s Office Criminal Investigation Division created a multi-agency task force, the purpose of which was to aggressively investigate the LaForge murder, as Lake County News has reported. The task force included nine investigators and a secretary.

Within a month of the group's formation, Lakeport Police reported receiving a series of new leads that had resulted in forensic examinations of additional evidence. Rasmussen said at the time that new forensic technology was expected to have an important role to play in the investigation.

Now, nearly six months later, Rasmussen said the task force's investigators – which continue to meet a monthly basis, and sometimes as often as every two weeks – are still following up on those new leads from November 2007.

Last fall Lakeport Police created a new page on its Web site dedicated to the LaForge murder, www.cityoflakeport.com/departments/page.aspx?deptID=76&id=110, and set up a new e-mail just to take information and leads on the case, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Anyone with information can also call Lakeport Police at 263-5491.

The case is Lakeport's only outstanding, unsolved murder.

CLEARLAKE OAKS – A woman accused of embezzling from her employer will return to court next month.

Michelle Lynn Davis, 23, is scheduled to be in court on April 11, at which time her preliminary hearing date may be set, according to Chief Deputy District Attorney Richard Hinchcliff.

Davis was arrested Jan. 2 on a felony embezzlement charge, as Lake County News has reported.

She reportedly worked for five years for the vineyard management company Shannon Ranches, based in Clearlake Oaks.

Hinchcliff said Davis was in court Friday, at which time her defense attorney, Kristine Burk of Sebastopol, was provided with discovery and reports in the case.

A call to Burk's office for comment was not returned.

In addition to the embezzlement charge, Davis is facing a special allegation because the amount taken was allegedly more than $150,000, Hinchcliff said.

The precise amount that Davis is alleged to have taken isn't being released at this point, said Hinchcliff.

Davis remains free on her own recognizance, Hinchcliff said.
