KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two local residents for the burglary of a Kelseyville home.
Jessica Rebecca Alvarez, 38, of Kelseyville and Christopher Jose Vasquez, 35, of Clearlake Oaks were arrested late Tuesday night, according to a report from Sgt. Corey Paulich.
At approximately 9:50 p.m. Tuesday sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of Stone Drive in Kelseyville for a report of a burglary, Paulich said.
Paulich said the victim reported that she was reviewing surveillance footage from her residence remotely and saw two subjects were inside her residence just before 7:15 p.m.
The deputies responded to the Stone Drive residence and found the suspects were gone. Paulich said the investigating deputy made contact with the victim and was able to review the surveillance video.
The deputy observed a male and female enter the victim’s residence. Once in the residence the subjects noticed the surveillance cameras inside, took the cameras and left, according to Paulich.
Paulich said the deputy was able to positively identify the two subjects on the surveillance video as Alvarez and Vasquez. The deputy recognized them as he had arrested both of them for misdemeanor drug charges at approximately 8:30 p.m. that same evening near the Sears store on South Main Street in Lakeport.
The deputy contacted Alvarez and Vasquez at the Lake County Jail where they had previously been booked for the drug charges, Paulich said.
Both Alvarez and Vasquez admitted to entering the Stone Drive residence, stating they were looking for somewhere to spend the night and thought the residence was vacant. Paulich said they took the surveillance cameras and threw them in the weeds near the Sears store because they panicked.
They deputy was able to recover the stolen cameras from the area described by Alvarez and Vazquez, Paulich said.
Alvarez and Vazquez were booked into custody at the Lake County Jail for the misdemeanor drug charges as well as burglary and possession of stolen property. Paulich said both remain in custody with bail set at $50,000.
