HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Rainbow, America’s County Store, has acquired Barks and Bubbles, the popular pet grooming service in Hidden Valley Lake, and will operate the business as Rainbow Pet.
Ashley Ilyin, the owner of Barks and Bubbles, will stay on as manager of Rainbow Pet and will retain her current local team.
“Rainbow Pet will bring a new and expanded level of pet supplies and services to Hidden Valley Lake and the surrounding area,” said Jim Mayfield, the president and owner of Rainbow, America's Country Store. “We are thrilled to partner with Ashley Ilyin who has established a premier pet grooming service. With the addition of Rainbow’s purchasing power, we will work to provide a full array of pet products at the lowest prices in the region.”
He added, “Rainbow has been serving Lake County for more than 25 years at our store in Lakeport, and the expansion into Hidden Valley Lake will enable us to offer even better service to our customers in the southern part of the county.”
Mayfield described the arrangement as the “perfect solution” for the Hidden Valley Lake community.
“Rainbow brings the management resources and marketing expertise together with the superb personal service that has been established by Ashley and her team over the years,” he said.
“Rainbow Pet now offers a full line of pet supplies and services right here at home that meet or beat the prices of the hardware and big box chain stores miles away,” said Ilyin. “It's the best of all worlds for people with dogs, cats and other small animals in Hidden Valley Lake. Pet grooming, self-wash stations, walk-in nail clipping and other services are available almost every day. Remember, if you can’t make it into the store, we will deliver it to you.”
Mayfield and Ilyin invite you to follow up Rainbow Pet on Facebook or sign up for their email announcements in the store. You can also visit their Web site at www.rainbowag.com.
Rainbow Pet is located at 18900 Coyote Valley Road in Hidden Valley, behind Hardester’s Market and is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The telephone number of the store is 707-987-1000.
A grand opening of the store will be announced soon.

SACRAMENTO – The California Office of Administrative Law, or OAL, recently approved Section 4900 in Title 3 of the California Code of Regulations pertaining to industrial hemp registration.
The OAL has approved the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s request for the regulation to take effect immediately.
The regulation will enable CDFA to open registration with county agricultural commissioners for industrial hemp cultivation.
In accordance with Division 24 of the California Food and Agricultural Code, cultivation of industrial hemp in California requires registration with the local county agricultural commissioner.
Registration applications are now available on the CDFA Industrial Hemp webpage.
“This is an important new crop that has generated interest all over the state,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. “With OAL endorsing this regulation, CDFA and its county partners will continue to cooperatively move forward with industrial hemp production in California.”
CDFA plans to propose additional regulations for industrial hemp cultivation later this year, including sampling and testing procedures, and the establishment of an agricultural pilot program.
More information on the Industrial Hemp Program, including registration applications, can be found at https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/plant/industrialhemp/ .
