Civil War Roundtable to discuss battle of Fredricksburg Dec. 3

UPPER LAKE, Calif. – One hundred and 50 years ago this month, nearly 200,000 American soldiers faced off in the little town of Fredricksburg, Virginia.

A few days and 18,000 casualties later, Robert E. Lee and the Confederate army had won a decisive victory over the federal army under General Burnside.

The events leading up to this battle, the battle itself, and its aftermath will be discussed at the next meeting of the Redwood Empire Civil War Roundtable this coming Monday, Dec. 3, at 6:15 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the historic Tallman Hotel in downtown Upper Lake.

Zane Jensen will handle the presentation, with a group discussion to follow. There is no cost and everyone is welcome.
