Spirit of the Season receives $1,535 in donations

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – To date 11 new community businesses, service groups and individuals have donated to Spirit of the Season for a total of $1,535 to provide for the food and gifts for families in need this Christmas.

The group thanked John and Elsie Mackesy, Ken and Janet Rosenthal, Middletown Luncheon Club, Walter and Doris Muller, Lessie Young, Alfred Rodrigues, Don and Delberta Crothers, Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Albright, Sam and Sandy Marquess, Dorothy Emerson, John and Kriss Davis and one anonymous donor.

Many community members are helping provide for gifts with the Wish Tree Program and Spirit of the Season thanks them for their response.

If you would like to assist, go to WestAmerica Bank, Tri Counties Bank, St. Joseph’s in Middletown, Mulligan’s or the HVL Realty in Hidden Valley Lake; they have Spirit of the Season trees with cards indicating the wishes of children for Christmas.

All gifts must be brought back to the site from which the card was taken and returned by Friday, Dec. 7.

As of this week, they have 111 families who have registered for food and or gifts and we anticipate giving out 150 Christmas dinner boxes with turkey and all the trimmings, plus milk and butter donated to the program by Hettie and Jim Hendrickson of Clover Stornetta Dairy.

They also need volunteers, especially some fellows who can assist with unloading food boxes the morning of Thursday, Dec. 13, and Friday, Dec. 14, at the First Baptist Church. Contact Phyllis Kelsey at 707-490-2497 to coordinate.

If you can assist with financial aid to help us to our goal of $7,500, please make a check payable to Spirit of the Season, P. O. Box 1468, Middletown 95461.
