NORTH COAST, Calif. – The North Coast Chapter California Association of Pest Control Advisers and Organic Fertilizer Association of California will host a seminar on sustainable/organic production in wine country in Cloverdale on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds, 1 Citrus Drive.
The all-day seminar will focus on sustainable and organic production of wine grapes and other crops.
Subjects will include an update by the Mendocino County agriculture commissioner, benefits of kelp extracts, sustainable winegrape growing programs, soil health, products approved for organic production, mycorrhizal innoculants, biochar and nutrient cycling.
A panel of winegrape growers will discuss challenges of fertility and pest control in sustainable and organic systems.
There also will be exhibits by firms providing products acceptable for sustainable and certified organic production.
Continuing education units are offered for certified crop advisers (6.0 hours), licensed Department of Pesticide professionals (6.0 hours), International Society of Arboriculture (3.0 hours) and Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (.25 points).
