MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – Acting Grindstone District Ranger Tony Saba has signed a decision memo to implement the Trail 40 reroute project.

The project consists of constructing a new 1,500- to 1,900-foot trail segment to replace a 1,200-foot segment that will be closed.

Trail 40 is located between the Nail Track off-highway vehicle area to the northeast and an unnamed drainage to the south (Mill Creek tributary), approximately five miles southwest of Stonyford in Colusa County.

The project will prevent damage to cultural and historical resources and maintain the functionality of the trail system.

Work may begin as early as October.
