LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild presents the 16th annual Falling Leaves Quilt Show in Lewis Hall at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport on Saturday, Oct. 7, and Sunday, Oct. 8.

The hours on Saturday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As you wander through the exhibits, you will find a colorful array of quilts and a bustle of activity.

The quilting techniques used in making these beautiful treasures vary wildly. A few quilters use very traditional methods of piecing and quilting by hand.

Most quilters use a combination of techniques including machine piecing, applique and quilting.

While many of the quilts are traditional bed quilts, you will also find many innovative pieces in all sizes from bed quilts to miniatures.

Don’t forget to check out the outside edges of the room where you will find 12 vendors from as far away as Chico and Eureka. They will be showing the latest in fabrics, long arm quilting and machines.

Visit the Country Store where you can find some handmade items from our members as well as recycled quilting, sewing and craft items.

Stop by the theme baskets and take a chance winning one of 11 baskets this year. Themes include yarn and needlework, Christmas, birds, baby, gardening, the great outdoors, quilting, ties, picnic and wine, tea and Lake County Treasures, always a big hit.

The silent auction includes a variety of items to tempt you from fabric bundles to a silver thimble. There will also be a Bernina sewing machine, quilt frames and hangers and a Go Baby Cutter.

The 2017 Opportunity Quilt will find a home on Sunday afternoon when the winning ticket will be drawn. Tickets will be available at the table throughout the show.

This year’s quilt called “Zig-Zag” was inspired by a pattern, “Lil’ Orphan Scrappy,” created by the featured quilter, Lynn Wilder of Sew’n Wild Oats. Just in case you don’t win the Opportunity Quilt, stop by Wilder’s table and she will be happy to tell you all about it.

The door prize this year is a Bernina Simplicity SB3129 Professional Computerized Sewing Machine donated by John Furtado of Village Sewing.

Demonstrations are scheduled throughout the show.

11:15 a.m.: “Quartered Strips Quilt” with Stephanie Underwood.
1 p.m.: “Tea Towel Apron” by Sandy Scott.
2 p.m.: “Monkey Business” with Cindy Jo.
