Mendocino National Forest welcomes Cowbell Enduro motorcycle event Nov. 4
MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – The Mendocino National Forest will again welcome the Cowbell Enduro motorcycle event.

This 71st annual running, to be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, will begin at 8 a.m. and end at approximately 7 p.m. at the Middle Creek Campground staging area on the Upper Lake Ranger District in Upper Lake.

The enduro is a time-and-distance event which travels across 95 miles of designated off-highway vehicle routes as well as high-clearance (level 2) roads.

The course is not closed, which means that all roads and trails used during the event remain open to the public and are subject to two-way traffic.

For this reason, riders who are not part of the event should exercise extreme caution when enjoying routes used by participants.

Since 1960, land management on national forests has been governed by the Multiple Use and Sustained Yield Act (MUSY).

MUSY mandates that national forests be "administered for outdoor recreation, range, timber, watershed, and wildlife and fish purposes."

Events like the Enduro are permitted through the national forest special uses program.
