Some Mendocino National Forest roads impassable

MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – The Mendocino National Forest reported that several roads on the forest are unsafe for public travel at this time.

The roads include:

– A segment of Forest Road 23N02 north of the Mendocino Pass, between its junction with Forest Road M4 and Forest Road 23N07.

– Forest Road 25N18 along Ant Ridge, south of the Trinity-Mendocino County line, from its junction with Forest Road M1 to the end of the road.

– A segment of Forest Road 21N06 south of Board Tree Campground, from its junction with Forest Road 21N06D to the end of the road.

– Forest Road 24N21 from its junction with Forest Road 21N06D to the Henthorne Trailhead.

– Forest Road 17N02 south of Upper Letts Lake, from its junction with Forest Road 17N09 south to the intersection of Miner Ridge Trail.

– Forest Road 18N02 east of Snow Mountain, from mile post 16.2 to its junction with Forest Road M3.

The Mendocino National Forest recently determined that washouts on these roads have made them unsafe and impassable. Repairs cannot be implemented until weather conditions permit.

The forest intends to temporarily close these roads until they are safe to travel. For additional information about road conditions, or the proposed closure, please contact Shannon Pozas at 530-934-1178.

When travelling on remote roads, please use caution as road conditions can change rapidly.

Carry tire chains and emergency supplies, and be sure to let someone know when to expect you.

If you see a problem on a Forest Service road, report it to ensure the safety of others.
