‘Dine Out for Hospice’ event planned Nov. 30

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Seven top Lake County restaurants are joining forces with Hospice Services of Lake County to present this year’s “Dine Out for Hospice” on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Hospice Services invites the public to dine at one of the seven participating restaurants between 5 and and 9 p.m. that night to help benefit the nonprofit hospice agency.

The restaurants will donate at least 10 percent of customers’ bills to Hospice Services of Lake County.

Participating eateries include the Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake, Giovanni’s Skyroom near Lampson Airport, Howard’s Grotto in Clearlake, Main Street Bar & Grill in Clearlake, Park Place and Renee’s Cafe, both in Lakeport, and the Saw Shop Bistro in Kelseyville.

“We’re very much looking forward to participating in this event to involve the whole community in support of the true angels of Lake County,” said Blue Wing Saloon owner Bernie Butcher. “To have Hospice Board Member (and pianist) David Neft here to entertain that evening is an added bonus.”

“We encourage everyone to plan a night out for dinner on Nov. 30 at one of these fine restaurants,” says Corrigan Gommenginger, ACHE, chief executive officer of Hospice Services of Lake County. “We are extremely grateful for the participation by the chefs and owners helping us to raise funds for Hospice Services. Our gratitude extends to friends, family and neighbors who will enjoy a wonderful meal and have fun while donating to Hospice simply by dining out during our annual event.”

Both the Main Street Bar & Grill and Renee’s Cafe owners have pledged donations of 50 percent of customers’ bill payments to the agency. “We appreciate the generosity of all our participants,” Gommenginger added.

Speaking about the event and his willingness to participate and donate to Lake County’s Hospice, Main Street Bar & Grill owner Sam Polo said, “I really believe in Hospice. My mother passed away 10 years ago, and during the last week of her life they were there to help. It meant very much to me.”

Polo his experience was outside of Lake County, but the hospice agency did so much to help with his mother’s care that he is happy to help the local hospice agency.

Funds will help the agency to provide quality medical, emotional and spiritual services to hundreds of Lake County residents, according to Gommenginger.
