LAKEPORT, Calif. – Hospice Services of Lake County is presenting a one day, free bereavement camp for families with children, age 5 years and older, who have experienced the death of a loved one.
The Wings of Hope Bereavement Camp is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Lakeport.
“Hospice Services recognizes and addresses the unique ways children grieve and heal,” said camp director Jo Moore, a bereavement counselor with Hospice Services of Lake County.
Camp activities are designed for healing in “a fun and positive environment” with horse and pet therapy, a family art project and lunch, Moore noted.
Preregistration for the camp is required. For more information and to reserve space, contact Moore at 707-263-6270, Extension 137, or
The Hospice Services’ Wings of Hope Bereavement Camps are offered periodically throughout the year and are facilitated by the agency’s bereavement counselors and trained volunteers.
“Most of us will experience the life-altering experience of losing a loved one: the death of a best friend, a parent, son or daughter,” said Linda Laing, director of Bereavement Services. “These losses can be even more traumatic to children and youth. These are powerful, life-changing events that, if dealt with effectively, can have nurturing and empowering effects.”
Hospice Services of Lake County’s mission is to support and comfort people by providing the highest quality medical, emotional and spiritual care to help patients and their families navigate their end-of-life journeys.
