Democratic Club to meet April 11

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – The Lake County Democratic Club welcomes spring with a potluck on Wednesday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m.

The club will meet in the Social Hall of the United Methodist Church, 16255 Second St., Lower Lake.

Feel free to bring a dish of your choice to share.

Mario Fernandez, political organizer for Region 6, SEIU Local 2015, will be the guest speaker for the evening.

SEIU Local 2015 represents our Lake County In-Home Supportive Services workers.

Fernandez will speak generally about the current state of unions, which are becoming more challenged in today's political climate. He also will address specific activities and how local activists can help.

Fernandez began his involvement with the labor movement shortly after graduation from college. He assisted two labor councils with their elections. In 2016 he worked for the California Faculty Association as they prepared for a massive statewide strike.

He majored in political psychology at San Francisco State University and attended the Strategic Corporate Research Summer School at Cornell University.

All meetings are open to the public. Membership is open to registered Democrats and dues are $20 annually.

The Lake County Democratic Club is an officially chartered club of the Democratic Party of Lake County.
