NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) announced that she and Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) will be hosting, in partnership with the California Women’s Caucus and the League of California Cities, an appointments workshop in Woodland on April 30.

The workshop will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, 2001 East St., for her constituents.

“I am so excited to bring this workshop to Assembly District 4 and our community,” stated Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry. “Public service has been such a rich and rewarding part of my life. I couldn’t let the opportunity to provide a workshop on how best to join State government pass by. I want to see my neighbors grab the reins and help serve our people.”

Appointments provide an opportunity for Californians to directly engage with their state government and a chance to enrich the lives of all Californians through civic service.

This special workshop will feature an open discussion about the application process, including best practices for applying to state boards and commissions.

A panel of commissioners and board members will speak on their experiences applying for an appointment as well as the work they do now.

“In making appointments I believe it’s important to have diversity in a wide range of areas, including geography, gender, and ethnicity,” Speaker Rendon said. “The more our boards and commissions represent all of California, the better job they can do for California.”

The workshop will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served at 7 p.m.
