LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Library announces the prizes that will be awarded at the completion of the library’s summer reading program, “Reading Takes You Everywhere.”
The program ends July 28.
In recognition of each person who reads at least 1,000 pages, the Friends of the Lake County Library will donate to the library a book containing a commemorative bookplate that bears the name of the reader.
The Friends of the Lake County Library are working with local businesses that are donating prizes for the summer reading program.
Local businesses that have already donated coupons to the Friends of the Lake County Library for pizza, ice cream and other goodies as prizes include Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Susie Q’s Donuts, Sanducci’s Cottage, Judy’s Jackpot Junction, Treasure Cove Pizza, Jimmy’s Deli, Kelseyville Pizza, Angelina’s Bakery, Mar-Val Sentry Market and Studebaker’s.
Prizes for the kids’ summer reading program will include special book bags and a party at the end of the program.
As adults and teens earn reading points, they also earn tickets toward the prize drawing. For every 200 pages read, you earn another ticket in the prize drawing. One lucky teen will win a Kindle Fire and adults who complete the program will be eligible to win a gift basket loaded with new books.
The summer reading program is a fun way to challenge yourself to read more over the summer. For students, reading over the summer break can prevent summer learning loss and help them to start the next school year out on the right page.
There is still plenty of time to sign up any time all four Lake County Library branches during the program which ends July 28.
Once you sign up you can keep track of your reading progress when you return your books to the library. There are three programs, one for children, one for tweens and teens, and one for adults.
The Lake County Library Summer Reading Program is supported in part by the Friends of the Lake County Library and Friends of Middletown Library.
