CalFresh can be temporarily used to purchase hot foods

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Due to the severity of Northern California wildfires, CalFresh Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, beneficiaries may use their CalFresh SNAP EBT benefits to purchase hot foods and foods intended to be consumed on retailer premises from authorized SNAP retailers between now and Sept. 16.

These purchases are not subject to sales tax.

This includes SNAP retailers in Lake, Colusa, Mendocino, Napa, Sonoma, Yolo, Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties.
