MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – Mendocino National Forest offices will close Monday, Nov. 12, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.
Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, Nov. 13, at all offices except for the Stonyford Work Center, which will close Tuesday, Nov. 13, and open Wednesday, Nov. 14.
Forest officials offer their thanks to all who have served in the military.
Christmas tree cutting in the National Forest is a chance to take the family out into the woods and cut a tree the old-fashioned way.
Christmas tree permits are available for purchase at Mendocino National Forest offices or through the mail. The $10 permit allows the holder to cut one tree in designated areas until December 24. Forest Order No. 08-18-16 for the Ranch Fire closure on the southern portion of the forest is still in effect. All roads and trails within the Ranch Fire area remain closed to public use. The Forest Order is posted here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd598265.pdf.
The northern half of the Mendocino National Forest is open for recreation.
