LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The city of Clearlake had a great evening on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Stars of Lake County Community Awards Celebration put on by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.
The first award of the night went to the city of Clearlake, which was presented with the “Special Star” award based on significant achievements over the last few years, which included making Clearlake a cleaner, safer, better community.
Later in the evening, Marie Weathers was awarded the Senior of the Year award for her contributions to seniors through her involvement in the You Are Not Alone, or YANA, program which assists seniors with welfare checks.
Weathers is a long-time Volunteer In Policing, or VIP, member with the Clearlake Police Department.
“We are incredibly proud of our VIP Volunteer Marie Weathers who was recognized as a Star of Lake County for over two decades of service to the community with YANA. Congratulations Marie and thank you for your service!” Clearlake Police Chief Andrew White said.
Finally, Clearlake City Councilman Russ Cremer was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his countless hours of public service on the Clearlake City Council, Clearlake Planning Commission, Clear Lake Rotary, Lake Area Rotary Club Association, Lake County Fire District Board, Konocti Unified School District Board, and much more.
”I am tremendously proud, not only by this prestigious award by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce recognizing the achievements of the city of Clearlake, but also for the awards to one of our councilmembers, Russ Cremer, and one of our police department volunteers, Marie Weathers. These awards are recognition of the dedication of our city staff, City Council, and our citizens to making Clearlake a better place,” said Clearlake City Manager Greg Folsom.
