Additional CalFresh replacement available for October 2019 power outages

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – CalFresh recipients who lost food due to power outages in October 2019 may receive replacement benefits for each power outage.

A majority of CalFresh households already received an automatic mass replacement on Oct. 24 for the power outage that began on Oct. 9.

The state will not issue additional automatic mass replacements for subsequent outages in October 2019.

However, CalFresh recipients who experienced additional power outages in October that resulted in food loss may request replacement benefits for each additional event on a case-by-case basis by contacting Lake County Social Services.
