The gathering will take place at the Round Room at the Mendocino College Lake Center, located at 2565 Parallel Drive in Lakeport.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
Giusti, who has a master’s degree in biology and served as the forests and wildland ecology advisor for Lake and Mendocino counties, will be discussing forest management from a fire recovery and resiliency point of view.
Topics include how to determine when to replant burned areas and when to let natural regeneration take its course; best practices for avoiding the introduction of invasive species; and whether it's better to attempt indigenous plant restoration or shift to species better adapted and adaptive to current and future climate conditions.
Giusti, whose areas of expertise include management and sustainability of forest resources and natural resources and the environment, will be available for questions following the presentation.
"We stand at a critical time in the life of Lake County," said Sierra Club Lake Group Chair Denise Rushing. "The Sierra Club Lake Group is committed to sharing information, resources and deeper wisdom to help guide us to a healthier ecology and a hopeful future."
