Rave: I support EJ Crandell – ain’t no shame in his game

EJ has been through his trials and errors – like we all have. He grew up poor and tripped a time or two but he didn’t let that hold him back. He stayed focused on school, sports and the Army as a way to work himself through childhood challenges.

The thing that impresses me the most about EJ is that he’s truthful, accountable and courageous, qualities I can get behind in a leader.

Knowing what the right thing is and having the courage to do it are two different things. EJ’s the kind of person who will study the pluses and minuses and then take the risk.

He did that when he first became chairman of the Robinson Rancheria. At the time, things were pretty bad. But EJ was up for the job. He showed courage when he took a stand to reverse previous disenrollments of members. It was a daring thing to do, not everybody was on board with it. But it was the right thing to do and he got it done.

When I think about EJ I think of the saying, “ain’t no shame in his game.” EJ does what’s right and doesn’t worry so much what others will say about him.

Seems to me we have a chance to elect a leader who will do what’s right – even if he has to take a risk and maybe get criticized.

I want that kind of leader so I’m voting for EJ Crandell for supervisor.

Malley: Proud to support Loustalot for supervisor

I have known Denise Loustalot since she was a young woman and I’m proud to support her candidacy for Lake County supervisor in District 3.

Denise has demonstrated remarkable leadership skills during her service as a city councilwoman, mayor, local Chamber of Commerce president and East Region Town Hall chair. She understands the issues affecting our communities and has the experience necessary to effectively address these issues.

As a retired law enforcement officer and current Lake County planning commissioner, I’ve observed how important it is to elect a supervisor with the knowledge to get the job done from day one. Denise fits this quality to a tee.

The people of the north county are fortunate to have a candidate with Denise’s integrity and ability. I encourage the residents of District 3 to cast their votes for Denise Loustalot for Lake County supervisor.

Manuel: Support for EJ Crandell

I’ve known EJ all his life. He’s a very good and a very strong leader. His character is above reproach. As a young man he worked before most of us even thought about it. He never changed. If anything when he came home from the Army he worked even harder.

In my tribe, being in charge means being available, showing up – no matter if it’s day or night. And he does. The dedication of this guy is unbelievable. It’s easy to see why he rose to the level of tribal chair. He’s got an inner strength like nothing I’ve seen.

Another reason I support EJ is because he’s struggled in his life just like so many of us – not just the tribe – but all over this district. He gets what it’s like to be poor and to be challenged with life’s trials. He’s got a good connection with the people and he cares.

One of the most important things about EJ is his concern for our young people. He uses himself as an example to help them find a good path. He hasn’t had an easy life but he overcame his challenges and he helps the youngsters understand that they can do the same. He has a way of connecting with the kids, in the tribe but also in our schools.

EJ is our own small town boy does good story. Not only has he proven himself through his work experiences, but he’s educated himself, even got a degree, and has used his learnings to help our tribe come back from hard times.

I sincerely hope he gets a chance to be our supervisor. He’ll work hard and smart. And I know he’ll be there for everyone – no matter who you are or your station in life.

Peterson: Voting for Loustalot

I spent the Memorial Day weekend perusing my sample ballot booklet and looking at the information on the candidates. After reviewing this material and doing some additional online research, I am voting for Denise Loustalot for Lake County supervisor.

The position of county supervisor is very important for our Northshore communities. The person whom we elect as supervisor is our advocate for essential county services such as public safety, roads and code enforcement. Denise Loustalot is best equipped to fulfill this role.

Denise is an independent leader who is not beholden to the current incumbent or other county government insiders. She has a proven track record for success in both business and community service.

Most of all, I was impressed that Denise has shown the determination and work ethic to succeed in the male-dominated automotive business. That’s the kind of person I want our next county supervisor!

On June 5, I will be voting for Denise Loustalot for District 3 supervisor.
