HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Martha Jeannette Gould, age 68, of Hidden Valley Lake passed away on Jan. 5, 2014.

She was known to all as Jeannette.

Jeannette was born on April 25, 1945, in Van Nuys, Calif., to Vernon and Martha Denny.

For 47 years she lived in the San Fernando Valley area of Southern California where she married Jay S. Gould in 1968.

She had a successful full-time business career obtaining the position of assistant treasurer at Liberty Savings and Loan in Beverly Hills, Calif., until Jennifer, the first of three children, was born in 1970.

She then set aside her business career and dedicated her life to being a full-time mother. After the children were in grade school, she went back to work on a part-time basis.

In 1992, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio due to a change in Jay’s employment. During the next 19 years she lived in Columbus, Ohio (twice) and Chicago, Illinois as Jay’s career evolved.

While having a vacation home in Hidden Valley since 2000, she and Jay moved permanently to Hidden Valley Lake, Calif., in January 2011, just prior to his retirement later that year.

She was an active hobbyist and collector with specialties in china painting, making porcelain dolls, porcelain lace-draped dolls and art work.

Her collection tastes were broad and included, among other things, family photography, tea cups from around the world, china dishware, porcelain figurines and PEZ candy dispensers.

Over the years, she was actively involved in the ministries of her local Church of the Nazarene including service as Sunday school teacher, choir member, women’s ministry president and missionary society president. Hospitality was her special passion and gift.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jay O. Gould.

Jeannette is survived by one sister, Barbara Watson of Granada Hills, Calif.; her husband, Jay S. Gould; and one daughter and spouse, Jennifer and Marnin Pyzer, both of Hidden Valley Lake; a son and spouse, James and Dawn Gould, of Newbury Park, Calif.; and another daughter and spouse, Katherine and Jon Leu, of Middletown, Calif.

She also is survived by nine grandchildren: Shyla, Autumn, Jacquelyn, Jared and Nicole Pyzer; Kyle and Cody Gould; and Danielle and Joseph Gould.

A memorial service will be held for Jeannette on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m. at the Clearlake Church of the Nazarene, 15917 Olympic Drive, Clearlake.
