Ronald Dean Alteneder
June 9, 1940 — Nov. 16, 2021
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Ronald Dean Alteneder was born in Iowa City, Iowa, to Alfred and Beatrice Alteneder.
Following his years of college, he worked for Rockwell International in Houston, Texas, and later transferred to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, office where he worked as supervisor of the design department. While there, he mentored a Junior Achievement group of youth who learned how to start and succeed at their own business.
Then Ron enjoyed a long and successful career with Auma Actuators Inc., originally in Pittsburgh and later in the Southern California office as West Coast sales manager.
He and his wife, Marybeth, met in Huntington Beach, California, where they lived until moving to Clearlake, California, in 1997.
Ron enjoyed living on the lake, building boats and more in his big garage, and being surrounded by nature.
He retired in 2005, but never stopped building and fixing things, a real talent which first surfaced at age 6 when he rebuilt an old bicycle.
He was happiest when he had several projects going at a time, and created many unique and diverse things of all sizes, including a 28-foot steel-hull boat and a 13-foot wooden teardrop trailer for camping trips.
Ron entered into eternal rest on Nov. 16, 2021, following a brave battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Marybeth; his daughters, Holly and Heidi Alteneder of Bakersfield, California; stepdaughter, Andrea (husband, Michael) VanRy of Placerville, California; and seven grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Amy (husband, Pat Graham) Alteneder.
At Ron's request, there will be no service.
Memorial donations may be made in Ron's honor to Wendy McRae, 19824 Morgan Valley Road, Lower Lake, CA 95457, who operates a local animal rescue ranch in Lake County.
