LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on June 1, 1938, Joy went home to Jesus after her fight with ALS disease on Nov. 11, 2021.
Joy is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Bob.
She is survived by her twin daughters, Robin and Roberta Acquistpace; three brothers, Gary (Paula) Myskey, Bob (Tary) Mysey, Darell (Paige) Dikeman; nephew, Robert (Chrysti) Myskey; and many other nieces and nephews.
Joy had a long career working for the State Assembly in Sacramento. In 1996 Joy and Bob retired to their home on the lake in Nice, California.
As active members of the Lakeport Elks Club, they spent many years cooking and serving and made many friends sharing cruise vacations.
Joy was especially proud of her church and church family at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Kelseyville. Her smiling face was seen on many Sunday mornings as she greeted before the service. Her nephew Robert said it best, Joy was her name and Joy was what she brought with her.
“Rest in Peace, Beautiful One.” You made a difference!
No services are planned at this time, donations to the Lakeport animal shelter will be smiled on by Joy and the nine kittens she would feed.

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Barkley (Bark) Joseph Shannon of Holualoa, Hawaii, announce his unexpected but peaceful passing on Nov. 16, 2021, at his family's ranch at the age of 81.
Barkley was born and raised in Northern California, worked as a master mechanic and owned his own business in Hawaii.
He was married to Mary Shannon for 36 years and was a wonderful loving husband and father.
Barkley is survived by daughters, Janeen (Mel) Sanchietti and Darla (Jeff) Stone; sons, Clay (Angie) Shannon and Craig (Rikki) Shannon; and two stepsons, Jason (Summer) Roberson and Marcus (Rina) Roberson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Betsy Opperman.
Bark loved his family and his friends. He loved to laugh and make people laugh, he never let an occasion pass without one of his many jokes or stories!
Ironically, Bark asked Mary to help him write a summary of his life. It says, “I am blessed! I have four wonderful, intelligent, compassionate children who are married to their perfect matches. With that I have 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. I have been very lucky.”
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 11:30 a.m. at the Home Ranch Ogulin House for close family and friends.
An additional celebration of life will be held in Hawaii at a later date.
